Warvictims: Dogs of war
08/03/10 || Habakuk
Oh man, this is gonna be easy. This is a four-song EP by a Swedish crust punk outfit. They are one of the War-something kind, not the Dis-something one. Just so you know, I’m gonna form a German/Swedish crust band called Disco one day. Or Wardisco. Anyway, we’re almost through song two already, I better get going with the review.
Intro: Riff
Verse: d-beat d-beat d-beat d-beat d-beat snare rollllllllll d-beat d-beat!!
Chorus: Song title! Song title!
Verse: d-beat d-beat d-beat …
Optional: short dirty solo
Ending
I shit you not when I say that this is a pretty accurate description. I’m especially proud of the part about the chorus, which is actually true for all four songs.
What else do you want to know? Song lengths? Sure thing: 1:25, 1:40, 1:26, 1:42.
Production? Low-fi, dirty, not too bad. Guitars? Low-fi, dirty,
three chords, not too bad. Bass? Follows the guitars. Drums? Is that a
serious question? Vocals? Could be a tad better. Not exactly awesome, as
they sound a bit forced, but they’re more than tolerable.
So, what do we do to wrap this up? Applaud Warvictims for being the
666th Discharge clone band? Most definitely. The world needs more of
those, no matter how forgettable, and if it’s only to make up for the
train wreck that is MTV alone.
And another one for corporate radio.
There you go, my shortest review to date. I’d like to say hello to everyone I know, and can I place a music wish, too? “State violence, state control”, thanks. Now excuse me while I write the info and go to my IKEA bed.
